Helping the Homeless

This summer our family had the privilege of baking cookies for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Charlotte. The Ronald McDonald House provides hope, support, and housing to otherwise homeless families as they stay away from home while their child receives medical care in Charlotte. The Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte opened in 2011 and is really beautiful. There are many opportunities to serve (if you can get on their booked volunteer schedule!) that include cooking dinner, baking cookies so the place smells like home, and even bingo.

Emma, Annie, Al, and Zach ready to bake in the RMH kitchen!

Working so hard she's got cookie dough on her glasses! Ha!
Helping with the mixing
Recently I was given some gluten free mixes from Front Porch Sweets, a gluten free bakery. (Thanks Brenae!) I decided to whip up these sugar cookies in case some families were gluten sensitive.
Using a KitchenAid mixer...swoon.

Baked with love!
Ready to roll!

We each baked our own batch of cookies. Here are Emma's snickerdoodle cookies
Allie's chocolate chip
and Annie's funfetti!
Oh and don't forget my gluten free sugar cookies :)

Packaging and labeling so families can quickly pick up a sweet treat.
Our fearless helper and dishwasher. Could not have done this without this guy!
LOVE serving with this crew and can't wait to do it again!
