Valentine's Date

Zach and I decided to beat the stampeding crowds and slew of dinner reservations by celebrating Valentine's Day on Sunday night instead of Tuesday.

This was a partially genius idea. Only partially genius because a lot of restaurants we'd like to frequent weren't open Sunday night. This did not keep up from trying some awesome places though and having a fabulous time out in the city.

For dinner, we went to the Pewter Rose Bistro, which is located in a turn-of-the-century textile warehouse in the South End neighborhood. The original brick walls, beamed ceilings, and French paned glass windows paired with all the twinkling lights and floor-to-ceiling trees make it such a cozy little delight.

I had the roasted airline chicken, served with a jalapeno-cheddar grit cake, charred tomato relish, cilantro chimichurri, and garnished with crispy spinach. It was a nice/unusual combo of flavors.
Zach got a burger which is not photographed, due to his lack of originality. Ha!

Our romantic dinner was topped off with live jazz. I love live music over dinner! I wish every restaurant did this.

For dessert, we headed over to Elizabeth for one of our favorites, Fig Tree.
We've never had dessert here before because we've always been too stuffed after dinner. Coming here just for dessert though was divine. I loved it and we will certainly do it again for a special sweet treat.

Zach got french press coffee and the incredibly scrumptious molten chocolate cake

and I got the beignets served with cinnamon creme and coffee gelato. OMG.
Happy Valentine's Day Z! I could not ask for a better love or a better man in my life. You are the best husband ever! Love you!
