Our Holiday

Sorry I have been MIA for about a week. We've had a ton of family and friends visiting over the past week and lots of fun stuff going on. I've tried really hard to put the computer aside and enjoy these moments with the ones I love. So here are the deets, about a week late...

A week ago Monday, Allie and Zach's mom Cindy arrived in Charlotte. This was Cindy's first time with us in NC and we were so excited to have her with us! We gave her a nice tour of the town which of course included a thorough tour of FHC and all Zach and I do. Here's the gang watching some previous worship sets in Zach's office.
Also, I thought it was ironic that within the first five minutes of being home, Al was lying on the floor looking through an Anthropologie catalog. Girl after my own heart.
We had a great Christmas celebration #2 with Cindy and Al and then Christmas celebration #3 with my parents, sister, and BIL on Wednesday. This was particularly special because Allie brought us gifts! That girl is so sweet. Check out some of what she gave this year:

Handmade stamped key chains. Zach's says "Daddy loves Shelly" on the back and mine says "Shelly Loves Daddy."
Allie also gave me a cook book this year with all the recipes she liked circled and starred. Naturally, all her recipe selections included either a biscuit or chocolate. :)
We got Allie a new ENO tree hammock that she had wanted from an outdoor shop in Waynesville, NC. This thing is super fun! It's surprisingly comfortable and warm. I hope she gets more of a chance to use it when the weather warms up, but we had a blast playing with it in the yard.

My sister

Since Cindy co-owns and operates a cafe/coffee shop back in Alabama, we visited quite a few around the queen city so she could get some ideas and see how other local shops are doing it.

At Amelie's over in NoDa. Love their eclectic fixtures

At D&D

Love this pic of Z singing and playing for his mom.
I love my MIL! Thanks for visiting us and we can't wait to have you again... hopefully SOON! :)

The back half of our week was filled with time with my parents, sister, and BIL. Mom and dad brought us a TON of fresh oranges and tangerines from Florida. Me, Dad, and Steve all took turns juicing and making some of the most delicious OJ ever!

We also went and saw the movie Tin Tin which was awesome.

We also spent a little time downtown since some of my family haven't visited Charlotte much. Charlotte's downtown is so beautiful and clean! Love this city!

On Friday, we ended up going to a NBA game. My BIL Steve and sister Lindsay are big Orlando Magic fans. Ironically, the Magic were in town playing the Charlotte Bobcats. Zach made some calls and got all four of us seats in a suite! Thanks JW for hooking us up! We had a blast! The Kales owe you!

Thanks family for coming up from Florida to see us! Love ya!

And lastly, for some Allie highlights from this week. Besides spending time with family, Al spent time playing at home which included a lot of legos and piano time

playing at FHC with her pals Emma and Annie
Wolf girls
Since Allie has quite a plump piggy bank from her birthday and Christmas we also did a little shopping. I think this girl loves Anthro as much as I do and is equally as inspired by their beautiful stores. Al made her very first Anthro purchase of a lovely green flower pot. So cute!

Of course Allie needed a plant to go in this new pot, so off to Lowes we went!
With her new plants
Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without some treat making and Allie never turns away sweets! We love to bake cookies together.

And a trip to Charlotte wouldn't complete without a meal at Flying Biscuit.

Cool pics of Allie

And before leaving on Monday, Allie got a little family fun time with our family friends, the Carsons. Thanks friends for lovin on our Allie so much.
A big thanks to all our family and friends who sent us holiday cards. We loved them and displayed them all with pride on our piano. :)
Happy New Year everyone! I can't wait to see what happens in 2012!
